Frequently asked questions
You have questions and we have answers, check out our list of frequently asked questions.
1
How were acts chosen to perform?
The 2026 OIF festival lineup features invited headliners as well as talented acts who applied to the festival via a submission process. All applications were reviewed by a selection committee and evaluated based on the festival's goals and values. The selection committee reviewed over 40 applications, watching many hours of improvised sets recorded by video. It was not easy to choose from so many wonderful applications!
This year we have a jam packed schedule of 21 improv acts chosen by the committee evaluations. The two groups of exceptional headliners from Toronto and Amsterdam were recruited by the festival co-directors.

How do I buy tickets?
Once we near the festival run, tickets can only be purchased online for the 2026 Ottawa Improv Festival via our Ticket Tailor page. OIF cannot guarantee the validity of tickets purchased from a secondary retailer, please use caution. Please see our Ticket Info page for more details and options regarding tickets.
3
Is the Festival appropriate for all ages?
Our shows are created with an adult audience in mind. Improv is all made up on the spot, so there’s always the possibility that adult language, themes and topics may come up during a performance. These shows are generally suitable for 16+; they are fully improvised and often contain mature content.

To enroll and participate in an OIF workshop you must be 18 years or older. We appreciate that this may be disappointing but we cannot make any exceptions.
4
How do I get a ticket refund?
All ticket sales are final. No exchanges or refunds will be provided.
5
What is the venue like and is it accessible?
